Physicals and Specialized Exams

Minnesota Occupational Health will customize the appropriate preplacement physical exam to either meet OSHA or federal requirements or to match the physical capabilities of the applicant to perform the essential functions of the job.

The preplacement exam includes history and a physical, including vitals, and an assessment of current medical injuries and illnesses to identify conditions that may impact their ability to perform essential tasks of the job.

Services Include:

  • Preplacement exams scheduled within 24 hours with same day results provided.
  • Minnesota Department of Transportation Motor Carrier Safety
  • Merchant Marine exams
  • Upper Extremity exams
  • Work simulation, job tasking analysis, and isokinetic testing to help determine if the physical capabilities of the person can perform the physical demands of the essential functions of the job.
  • Coordination of on-site audiometric testing and follow-up testing that complies with the NIOSH and OSHA guidelines under hearing conservation programs.
  • Respiratory clearance exams for workers in all asbestos or nonasbestos types of environments. Click here to learn more about the testing for respiratory clearance exams.
  • Hazard material exams and/or monitoring for exposure to a number of hazardous chemicals or elements and viral agents, such as lead, asbestos, hexavalent chromium, benzene, etc., as required by OSHA.
  • Control OSHA recordables
  • Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV evaluations. If an employee comes in contact with another person’s blood or body fluid, either through an open wound on the skin or in the eye or through a puncture wound, that individual should be evaluated and monitored for potential bloodborne pathogens exposure.
